Our Approach to Therapy

Be prepared for our interactive style of counseling

We connect you with our contracted therapists to provide an interactive exchange, that will work with you in a collaborative process that helps you overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship, and other issues. They are much more than good listeners. Our independent contracted therapists are knowledgeable, skilled change agents, and we really do care.

Direct Feedback

Our contracted therapists give you direct feedback about your situation. They know you are going through a difficult time. They will tell you what we see, then suggest how to move forward in the best possible way. This is an approach to counseling that most people find refreshing.

Skills

Unfortunately, our ever-speedy world tends to be overstimulating and anxiety-provoking, and robs us of the time and space we need to process our experiences and emotions.  Few of us naturally have the skills for managing stress and reducing anxiety.  In your therapy process, you will work in session and at home to learn how to manage anxiety, depression, and other difficulties.  It is a wonderful feeling to be the master of your own emotions!

Goal-Directed focus

Your therapist will help you define clear goals, and provide practical guidance in achieving them. Working toward these goals will give you a sense of how far you’ve come in therapy and when it is time to finish.

Short-Term Therapy?

We find that many clients don’t need to stay in therapy for very long. With the help of your therapist, you will better understand your challenges and what to do about them. Once you have achieved a positive outcome, your therapy may be complete. As some therapists like to say, “The point of coming to therapy, is not coming to therapy!”

Getting Started

First call.

Our friendly care coordinators will ask you more about your situation and what you are looking for in counseling. They will answer any questions you may have and help find you the therapist best suited for your needs. The office team will inquire about your health insurance and get the details so we can check your benefits and let you know what to expect in advance.

The office team will schedule an appointment with one of our therapists at a time that is convenient for you and send you an email with all the important information.

First Appointment.

When you come in for an in-person appointment, your therapist will greet you in the waiting room, and then start the wonderful process of getting to know you and helping you to feel better. Please bring your insurance card and photo ID (our insurance companies ask that we verify identity).

For a virtual appointment, you will be sent an unique video link through our client portal, TherapyAppointment, via text and email at the time of your appointment. You will click on your link, join a virtual waiting room, and meet with your therapist virtually.

Some people like to arrive a few minutes early to settle in, relax and gather their thoughts and feelings, questions and experiences to bring into the session.

At the beginning of the session, your therapist will collect your payment if you have one. Most sessions last about 55 minutes.
